Galactus was primarily an exercise in scale, detail and paying tribute to Jack Kirby.
I wanted the silhouette to immediately scream Kirby. The movies and countless later artists have interpreted the character in their own ways, but I kept returning to that original visual language — the enormous shapes, bizarre geometry and unapologetic cosmic grandeur.
I added my own embellishments and details, but tried never to lose the simplicity and audacity that made the original design so iconic.
