The exact moment between places.
Nightcrawler’s design is actually fairly simple, which made his teleportation the thing I really wanted to play with.
Rather than simply posing him and surrounding him with smoke, I wanted to freeze the exact moment between places — parts of his body already emerging while others are still somewhere else.
3D gave me a way to explore that effect spatially in a way I’d never really considered in two dimensions.
And, naturally, I got to add a giant cloud of pink smoke.
