Space Cats

A vertical series, built out of puppets that already existed.

All experiments

A vertical series I am producing and art directing for. The graphics are built from existing puppetry and practical models, so the characters on screen started as real objects somebody could pick up. Vertical changes the composition rules more than people expect, and the series is designed around that rather than cropped into it.

Process

The puppets and models already existed. The work was figuring out how to keep their character intact once they moved into a generated environment, which mostly comes down to lighting and restraint.

Format

Made for a phone held upright. That means the frame is tall, the read has to happen in the first second, and the center of the composition sits higher than it would anywhere else.
